Fall 2020 Teachers

Aaron Mikita
Coach Mikita has over 15 years of coaching and leadership experience.  He has coached youth from age four to middle school.  As a two-sport athlete in high school (basketball and soccer), he excelled at soccer as an All-State Defenseman and led his high school team to their first state championship appearance in 30 years.  He has coached with the Catholic Ministries of Frassati and the newly formed Badano Sports since 2016, and this will be his third year partnering with CCE. He seeks to develop character in youth through physical and spiritual development. He and his wife of 14 years have been blessed with four children.

Ann Young
Ann Young graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA in English and a diploma in Education. Ann is also a graduate of the Denver Catholic Biblical School. She taught English for six years in the public schools, taught various ages/courses for seven years for homeschool co-ops, and even had a stint homeschooling her own children. Ann enjoys teaching your delightful and virtuous children!

Brandi Matovina
Brandi is a mom to three kiddos, and loves nothing more than going on day-time adventures with her children. Brandi has been teaching art since 2010, and loves seeing what the kids in CCE classes create. Brandi likes to spend her free time on art commissions in encaustic (an ancient medium dating back to the Fayum mummy portraits), and catching a few endorphins through workouts (always snuck in during kiddo nap times).

Darci Byrnes
Darci Byrnes has been homeschooling for 15+ years and been a part of CCE for the last four years. She is an avid theatre goer, from the evening performances put on by her children in the living room to the elaborate productions at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. It is all delightful! She has directed plays for other co-ops in the past and is very excited to bring drama to CCE this year! …. pun intended 😉

Josey Hall
Josey Hall earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Metropolitan State University of Denver, with a biology minor. She has homeschooled her daughter for the past 11 years and has been active in the homeschool community during this time. Josey graduated from the Denver Catholic Biblical School in May 2016 from their Comprehensive Biblical Studies 4-year Program. She has facilitated an adult Classics Book Club for the past eight years. Her favorite book (after The Bible, of course) is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo–a tale of redemption! In her spare time, she enjoys reading, photography, hiking, camping, nature, and trying new cooking recipes. She is now the proud grandmother of two grandchildren, Zachary (age 3) and Charlie (age 7 months).
